Walters joined the Leeds School of Business in January 2022 as faculty in the Sustainable Business division. She serves as the Faculty Advisor to the Social Responsibility & Ethics certificate and as a Fellow of the Renewable and Sustainability Institute—a joint research institute between CU Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).Ìý Walters is a founding member of the Polymer Solutions for the Environment (POSE), which supports the development of a circular economy for plastics. She teaches undergraduate courses in Sustainable Operations and World of Business.

Since 2009, Walters has managed a consulting firm focused on sustainable energy projects and market development. Her clients have included utilities, project developers, technology entrepreneurs, international governments, and multilateral consortia.

Before launching her consulting practice, Walters spent 15 years in federal government roles. At NREL, she worked with stakeholders to identify and address barriers to clean energy market expansion in the electricity, buildings, transportation and industrial sectors. Her work included advising legislatures on crafting new market rules for clean energy, developing industry-leading workforceÌý, and co-creating the USDA , which has financed billions of dollars in rural clean energy projects. At the U.S. Department of Energy, Walters was a co-author of the Clinton Administration’s Sustainable Energy StrategyÌýand later served as chief of staff to the Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs.

Walters has also held roles in the private sector across the transportation, petrochemical and food industries, and has wored as a political consultant at both the state and national levels. Walters earned her MBA from Purdue and her BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.Ìý
