Are voters getting some sort of information from the party family label attached to a party and the party’s relationship with that label?” he explains. In his paper, Nonnemacher contends that political parties in Western Europe are responsive to politics outside their home country—and that strategic choices to embrace a larger party family label, such as radical right in the case of AfD, do influence how parties are perceived by a country’s voters.</p><p>In a recent conversation with Colorado Arts and Sciences Magazine, Nonnemacher emphasized that a political party that embraces the party family signifies its commitment to the larger ideological goals associated with the party family, while parties that push back and work to distance themselves from their sister parties from other countries signal that they may not be credible champions for core issues. His answers have been lightly edited for style and clarity.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Read the full article <a href="/asmagazine/2025/08/14/scholar-dissects-voter-perceptions-transnational-politics" rel="nofollow">Here</a></p></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Wed, 20 Aug 2025 15:21:29 +0000 Avery Lord 6725 at /polisci Ongoing fighting and disarray in Colorado’s GOP leaves Republican candidates frustrated /polisci/2024/09/23/ongoing-fighting-and-disarray-colorados-gop-leaves-republican-candidates-frustrated <span>Ongoing fighting and disarray in Colorado’s GOP leaves Republican candidates frustrated</span> <span><span>Anonymous (not verified)</span></span> <span><time datetime="2024-09-23T11:37:44-06:00" title="Monday, September 23, 2024 - 11:37">Mon, 09/23/2024 - 11:37</time> </span> <div> <div class="imageMediaStyle focal_image_wide"> <img loading="lazy" src="/polisci/sites/default/files/styles/focal_image_wide/public/article-thumbnail/ken_bickers.jpg?h=4fd787b0&amp;itok=dk7XExW2" width="1200" height="800" alt="ken"> </div> </div> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-categories" itemprop="about"> <span class="visually-hidden">Categories:</span> <div class="ucb-article-category-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-folder-open"></i> </div> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/1102"> Announcement </a> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/1106"> Ken Bickers </a> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/54"> News </a> </div> <div role="contentinfo" class="container ucb-article-tags" itemprop="keywords"> <span class="visually-hidden">Tags:</span> <div class="ucb-article-tag-icon" aria-hidden="true"> <i class="fa-solid fa-tags"></i> </div> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/1104" hreflang="en">Announcement</a> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/1105" hreflang="en">Ken Bickers</a> <a href="/polisci/taxonomy/term/957" hreflang="en">News</a> </div> <a href="/polisci/people/faculty/kenneth-bickers">Kenneth Bickers</a> <div class="ucb-article-content ucb-striped-content"> <div class="container"> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--article-content paragraph--view-mode--default 3"> <div class="ucb-article-row-subrow row"> <div class="ucb-article-text col-lg d-flex align-items-center" itemprop="articleBody"> <div><p>CU Boulder's Political Science Department's own Professor Ken Bickers was interviewed by CPR News in an article that highlights concerns that the Republican Party's disunity could hurt candidates in key races. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p><a class="ucb-link-button ucb-link-button-blue ucb-link-button-default ucb-link-button-regular" href="https://www.cpr.org/2024/09/23/republican-candidates-frustrated-fighting-inside-colorado-gop/" rel="nofollow"><span class="ucb-link-button-contents">Read full article here</span></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><a class="ucb-link-button ucb-link-button-gold ucb-link-button-full ucb-link-button-regular" href="/polisci/newsletter/department-newsletter/fall-2024-newsletter" rel="nofollow"><span class="ucb-link-button-contents">View Fall 2024 Newsletter</span></a></p></div> </div> <div class="ucb-article-content-media ucb-article-content-media-right col-lg"> <div> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--media paragraph--view-mode--default"> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <h2> <div class="paragraph paragraph--type--ucb-related-articles-block paragraph--view-mode--default"> <div>Off</div> </div> </h2> <div>Traditional</div> <div>0</div> <div>On</div> <div>White</div> Mon, 23 Sep 2024 17:37:44 +0000 Anonymous 6669 at /polisci
