Friday, May 30

Last day to update your diploma name and address. If you don't enter a diploma address, we'll mail your diploma to your home address instead. (If you are eligible for a confirmation deposit refund and you have not signed up for direct deposit, it will also be sent to your diploma mailing address in mid-June.)

International students: We've been running into significant delays and complications with international delivery of diplomas and other documents. We strongly advise you to enter a local/domestic diploma address to ensure delivery to yourself or a trusted individual.

Transcripts with degrees posted are available for order after 5 p.m. If you don't have a financial hold, you can order an official transcript online.

Your academic record has been carefully reviewed following the posting of grades for the Spring 2025 semester. You have not met the required 2.000 cumulative CU GPA minimum, therefore, you have been placed on academic suspension and a registration hold has been placed on your record.

Academic suspension is serious and we support your effort to improve your academic standing. Please review the options for reinstatement along with actionable next steps you can take below. For more information, view CU Boulder鈥檚 academic standing requirements.

What Happens on Academic Suspension?

As a result of academic suspension, your current Fall 2025 courses will be dropped with the exception of enrollment in Evening Credit, Online Credit, and Applied Music classes offered through the Division of Continuing Education. Note that if you remain enrolled in Continuing Education courses you will need to maintain a 2.300 semester GPA or above for each enrolled semester in Continuing Education. You will not be eligible to enroll in Main Campus courses during the fall or spring semesters until you have completed the requirements for reinstatement after academic suspension through the options explained below, which includes earning the required 2.000 cumulative CU GPA minimum or returning through conditional enrollment.

As a reminder, a registration hold related to your academic suspension status has been placed on your record and your official transcript will show that you are on academic suspension.

In addition, federal regulations require students to make satisfactory academic progress in a program of study to be eligible for financial aid. For additional information, see the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy webpage.

Options for Reinstatement after Academic Suspension

Please consider the following options available to you for raising your cumulative GPA, and view CU Boulder鈥檚 academic standing requirements for more detailed information.

Take courses offered through Continuing Education.
Take summer courses at any University of Colorado campus.
Take courses at another accredited college or university.
Take at least one calendar year off with no enrollment at any institution.

Your Next Steps

Log in to Buff Portal to view your holds for more information about your suspension status and next steps specific to your college, school or program. (Learn more about how to resolve your holds & to do items.)
Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor/coach. Your academic advisor will help you explore your options given your individual circumstances and assist you with improving your academic standing.
If applicable, you may view your financial aid status in Buff Portal. Students who have a 鈥楽uspended鈥� SAP status can submit an appeal form to request a reinstatement of financial aid.
If you are an international student, contact the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) Office immediately for guidance.

Your academic record has been carefully reviewed following the posting of grades for the Spring 2025 semester. Unfortunately, your GPA doesn鈥檛 meet the required minimum GPA for your reinstatement option and this has resulted in academic dismissal.

What Happens on Academic Dismissal?
As a result of academic dismissal, your current Fall 2025 courses will be dropped. As a reminder, a registration hold related to your academic dismissal status has been placed on your record and your official transcript will show that you are on academic dismissal.

Reinstatement after Academic Dismissal
Students who are placed on academic dismissal are eligible to enroll in summer coursework only. Students who enroll in summer classes following an academic dismissal are reviewed according to the following standards at the close of summer classes:

A student who raises their cumulative CU GPA to at least a 2.000 will return to good academic standing;
A student who earns at least a 2.500 summer term GPA, but who still has a cumulative CU GPA below 2.000, may be considered for an academic performance plan (APP) for a subsequent fall or spring semester;
A student who earns a summer term GPA below 2.500 and whose CU cumulative GPA remains below 2.000 may not enroll again until the following summer term.

Note: While students may take summer courses at any University of Colorado campus, CU Boulder does not guarantee admission to the other CU campuses. Grades from all CU coursework are calculated into the cumulative CU GPA.

Dear [first],

According to our records, you're currently classified as a nonresident (out-of-state) for tuition purposes. As a graduate or law student, you may be eligible to petition for a change to resident (in-state) tuition classification for Summer 2026, provided you established physical presence in Colorado on or before May 3, 2025, and take the necessary steps to establish legal ties by the time periods outlined below.

To be eligible for a change to resident classification for any term, you must demonstrate at least 12 months of Colorado domicile before the term start. Regardless of the date of your first summer class (even if your program does not begin until Augmester), in order to qualify for a change to resident classification for Summer 2026, you must have been physically present for 12 full months prior to first day of Summer 2026 term.

Your Next Steps to Qualify for Summer 2026

If you moved to Colorado on or before May 3, 2025, and you'd like to petition for a change to resident classification for Summer 2026:

Take action now to establish legal ties to Colorado.
Get a Colorado driver鈥檚 license or state ID within 120 days of moving to the state.
Change your voter registration to Colorado if you are a registered voter.
Register your vehicle in Colorado within 180 days of moving to the state.
File income taxes as a Colorado resident.

Review our adult petition information, graduate student video and graduate student handout for detailed requirements expected of a Colorado resident. It is your responsibility to review the requirements and ensure you have met them.
Submit your completed Adult Residency Petition between March 2, 2026, and May 1, 2026 (5 p.m.). Mark the final deadline on your calendar now.

*If you fail to take the required steps by the deadlines outlined above, your petition will be denied and you will continue to be assessed out-of-state tuition.

**If you maintain legal ties to another state, your petition will be denied and you will continue to be assessed out-of-state tuition.

Considerations for International Students & WRGP Participants

International students with student visas (e.g., F-1, F-2, H-3, J-1, M-1, M-2) do not typically qualify for in-state tuition and should not submit a petition without first contacting the tuition classification office at tuitclass@colorado.edu.

Graduate students who qualify for in-state tuition rates under the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) should not make changes to their domicile and should not petition for in-state tuition. WRGP applies to select academic programs only.

Effective Spring 2022, grade replacement is applied automatically at the end of each semester when a student repeats an eligible course, and there is no longer a limit to the number of credit hours students can use for grade replacement. However, some academic programs have limits on the number of course repeats allowed for specific courses or number of attempts for degree applicability.

Note: Grade replacement may be revoked by action of the Office of Student Conduct if an honor code violation is found to have occurred.

Continuing undergraduate registration for Fall 2025 closes May 22 at 11:59 p.m. After May 22, you will not be able to add or edit your classes until the schedule adjustment period opens July 23.

Waitlist processing for Fall 2025 classes will pause starting May 23 and will resume July 23. For the best chance to get the classes you want, we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Your enrollment status may affect your eligibility for housing, tuition remission, health insurance, financial aid, loan deferment status, purchasing a CU Sports Pass and more. If you're considering dropping below full-time status, contact the applicable offices to find out how this change could affect you.

Schedule an advising appointment.
Clear any holds that will prevent you from registering.
Complete your preregistration items.
Build your shopping cart.
If a class is closed, join the waitlist and use drop if enrolled on a backup class.
If a class you need is only offered on another CU campus, consider intercampus enrollment.
Finish enrolling in classes.
