This seminar is designed for undergraduate students, especially if you're interested in getting involved with undergraduate research or considering grad school. We want to foster meaningful interactions with faculty and introduce you to the rich and fascinating world of computer science beyond the classroom. Talks will be given by leading researchers and educators from the computer science faculty.

  • Monday, Sept. 22: Divya Vernerey. Social event to introduce CSUAC members and discuss undergraduate research opportunities.
  • Monday, Oct 6: Fruzsina Agocs. Her research blends scientific computing with numerical analysis and computational physics, and is guided by physics and engineering applications.
  • Monday, Oct. 20: Bill Wright. Hehas 37 years of industry experience, primarily done server-side coding (full-stack microservices) with a strong emphasis on behavior-driven development and test-driven development.
  • Monday, Nov. 3: Bobby Schnabel.Professor of computer science, external chair of the department (including strategic planning, tech community and alumni relations, and faculty mentoring) and campus thought-leader on computing. His hope is to infuse ethics in computing.
  • Monday, Nov. 17: Willem “Vlakkies” Schreüder. He has more than 40 years of experience in mathematical modeling and data analysis, in particular basin scale groundwater models. His work focuses on computer graphics, system administration and network systems.
